Geopolitical developments
Iran's UN representative Amir Saeid Iravani said on Monday that Iran and the U.S. are still actively pushing forward negotiations on a peace agreement and that he is optimistic the two sides will reach a final result 'soon'. When asked whether a deal could be reached before the end of June, Iravani replied: 'We hope so.'
Iravani also stressed that the current ceasefire agreement is comprehensive and applies to the entire region, including Lebanon. That claim was rejected by Israel. At the same time, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said that although Israel has decided not to take further military action against Iran, it will continue strikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
