Shortly after the U.S. military post, Iran's Tasnim News Agency reported explosions in eastern Hormozgan Province.
The areas involved included Sirik and Minab, but the exact location of the explosions was not yet clear. Local sources said air-defense activity was taking place in parts of the province.
Trigger for the incident: U.S. Apache helicopter shot down
Earlier that day, Trump posted on social media that a U.S. Apache attack helicopter was shot down by Iran in the Strait of Hormuz on the night of the 8th.
He also said the United States must respond to the attack.
According to multiple U.S. media reports, U.S. officials said the attack helicopter was shot down by an Iranian drone, but it is still unclear whether the strike was deliberate.
